SUKHBIR BADAL ASKS DSGMC TO SUPPORT FARMERS’ AGITATION AGAINST DRACONIAN FARM LAWS IN DELHI

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) president Sukhbir Badal has directed the party unit of Delhi and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to support the farmers’ protest to be held in New Delhi on November 26 and 27. He has directed the DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa to extend every possible help to the protesting farmers. It is pertinent to note here that the farmers’ bodies have given a call to the farmers for staging a protest in Delhi on November 26 and 27. Under this program named “Delhi Chalo”, the farmers have been called upon to move towards New Delhi to make the Union government feel heat of farmers’ sentiments.
On being contacted the media, DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the SAD (Badal) Delhi unit and DSGMC will be serving langar and other necessary requirements of the protesting farmers. “We are trying to contact all the protesting farmers’ bodies for extending help in this program,” he added.
DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa heads an assembly segment in Delhi on BJP’s ticket and it will be interesting to see Manjinder Singh Sirsa helping farmers protest against his own party’s government in centre.
After snapping ties with the BJP, SAD (Badal) president Sukhbir Badal is trying hard to gain sympathy of farmers in Punjab. He is also striving to gain hold over the Sikh vote bank but the circumstances don’t seem favorable to his aspirations as the SAD (Democratic) headed by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has emerged as a potent challenger.
