Congress MP claims sniffer dogs checking 'prasad' being carried by pilgrims from Kartarpur Sahib

A Member of Parliament from the Congress party on Wednesday claimed that prasad being carried by Indian Sikh pilgrims from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Kartarpur is being checked by sniffer dogs on the Indian side.

The claim was made by Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, who said the move was akin to showing beadbi (disrespect) to the prasad. Addressing MPs during the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha today, Bittu, MP from Punjab’s Ludhiana, said security was paramount but it should not be done to the extent of showing disrespect to Prasad. He said prasad is sacred and sniffer dogs should not check it.

The Kartarpur Corridor that connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Kartarpur with Dera Bana Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district in India’s Punjab was inaugurated on November 9. The Corridor was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on the Indian side and Pakistan PM Imran Khan on his country’s side.

Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara was the final resting place of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev.
