SGPC panel meets Pak Punjab Governor

In view of the celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, a panel of the SGPC today met Pakistan Punjab’s Governor Chowdhary Mohammad Sarwar.

The five-member delegation that earlier crossed over to Pakistan through Attari comprised SGPC member Rajinder Singh Mehta, Dharam Parchar Committee secretary Prof Balwinder Singh Jodasingha, assistant manager Rajinder Singh Ruby, Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (Birmingham) representative Mohinder Singh and Inderjeet Singh.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said the panel had been sent to hold talks with the Pakistan authorities to explore the possibility of holding a joint progamme. As per information, the panel, accompanied by representatives of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) held a meeting with the Pakistan Punjab Governor in a cordial atmosphere.

Talks were held regarding the joint celebrations of the 550th Gurpurb, besides enhancing the permission limit for Indian devotees by liberalising visa norms. The panel presented a replica of the Golden Temple and siropa to Mohammad Sarwar.
